Full Moon In Aries

Full Moon in Aries

Now that we have arrived at the Full Moon in Aries, it’s time to reflect on how we’ve shown up over the last six months.

Under the light of the Full Moon in Aries, take time out to reflect on your inner change.

  • How have you met the challenges that you faced over the last six months?
  • Where have you taken initiative over the past six months?
  • What lesson(s) have you learned from having to step out of your comfort zone this year?

As a fire sign, Aries is a sign of action. The element of fire can be destructive, but with destruction also comes rebirth – new opportunities – and a fresh start.

Don’t be afraid of endings, or massive change. Instead, allow yourself to gently steer into it. Center yourself. Look for opportunities to grow and step up into being the person you were meant to be.

The biggest thing that has held Tracy and I back from bigger and better things in the past has been our reluctance to let go of what no longer served us.

The harder we cling to what feels comfortable, familiar, and safe, the more we repel opportunities for growth, fulfillment, and joy.

One thing that this pandemic has forced us to do is to release old ways of doing things.

Right now the time to reflect and identify things in your life that no longer serve you – and release them.

Full Moon In Aries Correspondences

Element: Fire. Aries is a fire sign, so honor the element of fire in your Full Moon in Aries rituals by lighting a candle, or working with “fiery” crystals (see below).

Season: Autumn (The Aries Full Moon occurs in early autumn, six months after the New Moon in Aries in early spring).

This is typically the full moon closest to Mabon, the Autumn Equinox.

Candle Color: Red, pink, white.

Crystals/Stones: Rainbow moonstone and satin spar/selenite are my go-to full moon crystals.

Also consider working with ruby, garnet, bloodstone, jasper, fire opal, or fire agate.

Herbs/Tea: Sage, pepper.

Essential Oils/Incense: Pine, dragon’s blood, geranium, black pepper.

Animal: Ram, other horned ruminants.

Other Earth Magick Items: Other items I might work with during Full Moon in Aries rituals include fresh or dried red, pink, or white flowers from the garden – particularly ones that are still in bloom at this time (asters, for instance).

Red autumn leaves work well for this also, linking your Aries moon ritual to the current season.

Acorns also represent both fulfillment (they are the seeds of mature oak trees), but also new beginnings. Decorate your altar with acorns and other fall nuts to represent the cycle of initiative and fulfillment.

Full Moon In Aries Rituals

Here are some suggested rituals to perform under the Aries Full Moon:

1) Aries Full Moon Tarot

The tarot card associated with Aries is The Emperor (IV).

The Emperor represents power, authority, reason, and leadership – which are all qualities to embody during the Aries Full Moon.

Here is a simple Release/Receive tarot spread to try during an Aries Full Moon:

2) Releasing With Fire

Another way to honor the element of fire, and work with the waning moon energy after a full moon, is to burn what you want to release.

To do this, simply write down thoughts, feelings, habits – whatever it is – that you want to release on small pieces of paper.

Then in a fire-safe container, burn the paper. Once the ashes are cool, simply bury them or toss them away from you.

Here’s an in-depth look at this release ritual that Tracy and I did recently.

My Garden At The Full Moon In Aries

There is not much blooming in my garden by the Full Moon in Aries.

The goldenrod has faded. Asters are either at or just past peak bloom.

Mums, marigolds, and zinnias are still going strong – but the first killing frost of the season will soon put my garden to sleep.

This is the time of year when I turn from gardening to herb-crafting.

At this time, I dry herbs that I’ve harvested from my garden.

I make tinctures, infused oils, smudge sticks, and candles with the herbs I’ve collected over the past few weeks.

I usually harvest the last of the vegetables, unless the weather forecast calls for warm weather to continue. Now is the time to save and prepare seeds for planting next year.

For me, the new and full moons in Aries are always linked as I collect seeds during the full moon, and plant them during the new moon in the spring – a cycle that repeats year after year.
